THINGS TO DO

  • Historic Roman-style bath with stone columns, arches, and a water-filled pool under a sunset sky.

    The Roman Baths

One of the finest historic sites in Northern Europe. Once the site of one of the great religious spas of the ancient world; the people of Roman Britain came to the site to worship the goddess Sulis Minerva and bathe in the waters of the natural thermal springs, which still flow with hot water today.

  • A scenic landscape featuring a historic stone mansion surrounded by green trees and a grassy field with grazing sheep, under a partly cloudy sky.

    Lacock Abbey

Country house with monastic roots, once home to William Henry Fox Talbot, inventor of the photographic negative.

  • A mountain biker wearing a pink helmet and red pants is mid-air performing a jump on a dirt trail in a forest with trees in fall foliage.

    Bike Park, Longleat

This is a fantastic MTB park with route options for all abilities – it is a fairly basic setup though and you will need to find somewhere to rent bikes.

  • Lush green maze with high hedge walls, stairs on the left, set in a scenic countryside with trees, open fields, and rolling hills in the background under a partly cloudy blue sky.

    Longleat Safari Park

Was opened in 1966 as the world's first drive-through safari park outside Africa. It is in the grounds of Longleat House, the home of the 8th Marquess of Bath. In addition to the main house, attractions include a Safari Park and the Longleat Railway.
